► Thekla, the mother of Emperor Theophilus, was the daughter of Bardanes; her father was Emperor Michael II (Michael of Amorium).

► When Thekla died in 823, Michael married Euphrosyne, the daughter of Constantine VI. - Constantine VI's father was Leo IV—nicknamed "the Khazar"— and his mother was Irene of Athens. Thus, Khazar blood also flowed through Euphrosyne’s veins.

► Emperor Leo V, meanwhile, had married Bardanes' other daughter.

► Thekla 823’te ölünce Michael, VI.Konstantine’n kızı Euphrosyne ile evlendi. - VI.Konstantine’n babası ise Hazar lakaplı IV. Leo idi, annesi ise Atinalı İrene’ydi. Yani Euphrosyne’nin damarlarında da Hazar kanı dolaşmaktaydı.

► İmparator V.Leon ise Bardanes’in diğer kızıyla evlenmişti.
